Posting this for a friend who has a 2008 cobalt trying to get some help for him.
Power lock doors constantly unlocking.
First try replacing the remote battery to be sure it is not causing the issue.
Oh some cars that have electric locking systems have a sensor in the driver side door lock so when you push the lock down on the driver door it makes all the doors lock so if this sensor is malfunctioning it can cause the doors to lock and unlock unexpectedly i ve had this happen before what you can do and this can be done at home though it is easier to have a dealer do it i d do it myself what you can do is take the door apart and either remover the sensor from the lock.
His power door locks are locking unlocking all by themselves with or without the ignition running.
It s to the point that he cannot drive the car and i m hoping i can help him with a fix.
That should turn up the problem with the power loss.
The doors will relock automatically if you do not open a door within 45 seconds of unlocking the doors with the remote control.
You have a intermittent condition.
The power door locks keep locking and unlocking even when the truck is turned off they are supposed to automatically the power door locks keep locking and unlocking even when the truck is turned off they ar the doors quad cab will not lock or unlock via the switch the doors quad cab will not lock or unlock via the switch or the keyfob.
If it has replace the switch.
1 disconnect the drivers door lock unlock switch from the connector.
If there is a conflict in one of the door locks that tells the module it is not closed or not locked the module will cycle the locks.
If this is occurring with the locks as well as a power loss then you may have a bad ignition switch.
The remote should also be checked for stuck buttons.
The door locks and the alarm will return to their previous state.
The body control module controls the locking function.
I would start by checking for any codes in the computer relating to the power loss and check all of the sensor readings.
To get the door locks to work the door lock actuators have to be grounded to activate and the output signal side of the master switch has to send a power signal when the door lock switch is applied since all the actuators are going off at the same time tells me there is a intermittent power signal after the switch to activate all the actuators.
To isolate the cause.
